🧠 Print-Ready Files 101: Bleed, Safe Margin, CMYK & DPI
Make your artwork print perfectly—no surprises at the edges!
🔴 What is Bleed & Safe Margin?
Bleed is extra artwork that extends beyond the final trim size so you don’t get white edges after cutting.
- Bleed: Add 3 mm on all sides.
- Safe Margin: Keep text/logos at least 4 mm inside the trim line.
🎨 CMYK vs RGB
For printing, always export artwork in CMYK. RGB looks vibrant on screens but can shift in print.
- Color Mode: CMYK (ISO Coated v2 / U.S. Web Coated SWOP)
- Black Text: Use 100% K black for small text; use rich black (e.g., C60 M40 Y40 K100) for solid areas.
🖼️ Resolution & Fonts
- Resolution: Export at 300 DPI for crisp results.
- Fonts: Convert to outlines/curves or include font files to avoid substitution.
- File Types: PDF (preferred), PNG/JPG (high-res), AI/PSD/CDR accepted.
